Repositioning and Rebrand

Australian Pet Nutrition

Case overview

Australian Pet Nutrition (APN), a nutraceuticals and raw food business based in Darwin, NT, engaged PBC to reposition and rebrand the business. Dr. Roz Rowen, PhD, had built genuine depth of expertise in holistic pet care - but the existing brand no longer reflected who APN had become or the disruptive stance Dr. Roz wanted to take in the market. The work centred on finding a visual and strategic language equal to the conviction behind the business.

Our role

01

The brief

Dr. Roz came to PBC with a clear sense of what APN stood for - and an equally clear sense that the brand was not communicating it. The business needed a repositioning that captured her progressive, evidence-based approach to pet health and her role as both educator and advocate, not just supplier.

02

Our approach

PBC began with the strategic question: what does APN actually stand for, and how do you build a brand that makes that impossible to miss? Dr. Roz's credentials and convictions pointed toward a disruptor positioning - a brand that inverted the polished, aspirational aesthetic common in the premium pet space in favour of something bolder, more direct, and more authentically her.

The visual identity drew on the energy of Dr. Roz's own research process - the highlighters, the handwritten notes, the working-it-out quality of someone who genuinely thinks deeply about this. The result was a high-contrast palette and textured typography that felt deliberate rather than decorative, and that broke down the sense of moral superiority sometimes associated with holistic pet care, making APN feel accessible without diluting its authority.

The website and supporting materials were built to carry that positioning through every touchpoint - leading with education, ingredient transparency, and Dr. Roz's expertise as the organising principle of the brand.

03

The results

APN emerged from the rebrand with a visual identity and brand positioning that clearly reflected both the business's values and Dr. Roz's authority in the category - distinctive in a market where most brands default to the same safe, soft aesthetic.

The business has since experienced considerable growth, particularly in the B2B sector which has been a key focus for the business.

"I can't recommend PBC highly enough. Working with them has been a great decision for my business development. They are professional, knowledgeable and efficient. Their team brings such diverse knowledge and skills which are what every business needs. If I could give 6 stars I would."
